History
The Gables is a little way up New Yatt Road from Woodgreen.

The Gables was home to the Smiths and Earlys blanket making families. It was owned by Sydney Smith in the 1930s. He moved to the newly built Merryfield a little further up New Yatt Road. After the Second World War The Gables was bought by Richard Early who later moved to Mount House. The house along with the adjacent 'Elmfield' was purchased and converted into office accommodation for West Oxfordshire District Council.
